Hi, friend! My name is Christina Ferency and I am a Certified Behavior Consultant-Canine (CBCC-KA), Fear Free Shelter Certified and Fear Free Certified Trainer. My career in animal welfare spans 18 years, including many years as lead of the behavior department of a large open-entry, non-profit animal shelter. Working with dogs during one of the most stressful times in their lives taught me many valuable lessons about training, patience, compassion and education. I have been deeply involved in almost every stage of a dog’s life from: training dogs to become their most adoptable selves, to placing dogs into appropriate homes, to in-home sessions and beyond. My specialities include working with fearful, reactive and “aggressive” dogs. I have seen dogs in many different stages of their lives and I can promise that I always lead with kindness, compassion and patience for both the animal and their loved ones.
I have been involved in almost every stage of a dog’s life from placing dogs in appropriate homes, in home training and assisting families in making tough decisions. I promise I will only show compassion and understanding, no matter your situation.
The best part about in-home training sessions is seeing the transformation dogs and their families make with a little help and guidance. I enjoy training and I want you and your dog to also! I pride myself in the way I’m able to break down training methods to make them easier to understand and more attainable for you to implement. Training can be fun, easy, sustainable, and a great way to strengthen the bond you have with your dog. I’m here to help you start that journey together!
At home, I have three rescue dogs of my own. Frankie and Linus are Chihuahuas who landed in the shelter after being attacked by other dogs. Linus had to have his front leg amputated, which he barely notices today. Frankie has the scars to prove he is a fighter. My third dog, Zane, is a mutt but most likely a German Shepherd/Husky mix. He’s learning to trust new people and making strides with each interaction! I also have two ferrets that keep me laughing with their goofy antics. My animals are my life and there is nothing I wouldn’t do for them. In the past I’ve had an Amazon Parrot, Bearded Dragons, foster kittens and various other reptiles and amphibians. I’ve also fostered dogs for many years to help them either behaviorally or medically (or both) so they could find their forever home. I know how much trust it takes to allow someone into your home to work with your dog, and I never take that trust for granted!
